Saturday Breakfast

I had a loaf of brioche that needed to be used. My solution? Apple-Cinnamon French Toast. As my friends know, eggs and food with spongy texture sum up most of my eating dislikes. Therefore, my French Toast is made with cream and only one egg. I mixed cream, 1 egg, cinnamon, and freshly grated nutmeg in a bowl. Then I sliced the brioche about 1.5 inches thick. I dipped the bread in the cream mixture and then grilled the bread on my grill pan until it was crispy and golden brown. For the topping, I melted 1/4 cup butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar in a skillet. After the sugar dissolved, I added in 2 sliced apples and cooked them until they were tender. I stacked two pieces of brioche on a plate, spooned on some of the apple mixture, and served it with bacon. —PHH

Star-Spangled Dessert

The Fourth of July is A's favorite holiday. His reasons: you get to wear shorts, cook out, see fireworks, and celebrate our freedom. This means we have a cookout each year to celebrate. Our city's fireworks show takes place on the mountain in front of our house, so we invite all of our friends over. After dinner, we walk to a street the city closes off to see the display. Awesome! Dessert this year was an yummy cheesecake flag from Martha Stewart Living. It tastes as good as it looks. —PHH

It's a Blog-Eat-Blog World

After a couple of years reading the blogs of friends, I've decided to throw my hat into the ring. This blog will be primarily devoted to my favorite hobby: cooking! I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, so I thought it would be fun to post menu ideas, recipes, and links to yummy dishes. Due to my job, I am exposed to great recipes on a daily basis. I will share shortcuts I create to get dinner on the table as well as reviews as to whether a recipe is worth the effort or not. This will be fun!
